More room for visual storytelling.
IN DEVELOPMENT
Time to look.
Space to connect.
This visual edition of The Old Oak Tree is being developed with Deaf children in mind. Large illustrations, clear picture sequences and the characters’ expressions help readers follow what happens, notice how feelings change and discover the connections between one scene and the next.
Selected illustrated British Sign Language vocabulary accompanies the story, with Jennifer’s original English text included for shared reading.
Children will be able to spend time with each picture, point out the details that interest them and explore the story with a parent, carer or teacher. From the squirrels gathering acorns to the gardener caring for his old friend, the pictures give families plenty to notice and discuss together.
The edition carries the original story’s warmth and hope into a format that gives visual storytelling more room.
